Korinthos Apartment Building
Nicosia, Cyprus
|
|
Our firm designed this
apartment building and built it with a small group of subcontractors. The building
was designed with the participation of the users who had a saying in the
layout of their dwellings. It is a six-unit structure with a
subterranean parking. Pedestrian entrance and parking entrance are
separated. The entrance into the building is through a small open court
which has a fountain, benches and flower planters. The ground level
apartments have gardens and covered verandahs. Each unit has three
bedrooms and the living room and dining room are connected to covered
verandahs overlooking the park. A lot of handcrafted details inspired by
the local building culture and tradition were employed - handmade
concrete tiles, concrete handrail traceries, column capitals, beam
cornices, stone caps, etc. The construction system is cast in place
reinforced concrete with in-fill terracotta block walls, stucco and
plaster. |
